Solace is the new mystery film from director Afonso Poyart.
A psychic doctor, John Clancy (Anthony Hopkins), works with an FBI special agent (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and his partner (Abbie Cornish) in search of a serial killer (Colin Farrell)
I’d like to say going in I was worried going in due to the 29% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. In my opinion I believe that the hate was a bit harsh.
Solace is not a perfect film but it was entertaining backed by a grasping plot where each mysterious psychic flash lead to a point in the end, yeah we could’ve learned more about Farrell’s character but we didn’t.
I enjoyed it and if you feel that by looking at reviews it’ll put you off going to see films then it’s your loss, you have to take a little risk with film, its hard now a days to do something that hasn’t been done before. Solace has a lot of similarities to pieces like Silence of the Lambs and Seven but this doesn’t mean it can’t stand on its own two feet. Therefore if you like to take risks go see it if you look at ratings and bleugh then just walk away.
